Owner Stories

Heather and CoCo

Heather M., a Baron owner writes:

I own a Brenderup Baron HB and pull it with my Toyota 4Runner V6.  When I first researched Brenderups, I passed along the product information and design specs to my husband, who has a PhD in Aeronautical Engineering and works for a major defense contractor.  He commented that this was the first trailer he's seen that looks like it would be towed effectively by a vehicle.  The trailer itself is balanced properly over its two axles, reducing the burden on your towing vehicle and making starting, stopping, and pulling safer.  My horses appreciate the other little features your trailers offer, like the shock absorbers (really nice when I have to park in bumpy fields for my events).  The front window is also a great source of fascination for my "passengers" as they watch the world go by and forget about their hay!  It's really inviting inside and tall.  My event horse CoCo is a big fan-- a notorious loader, after just his first trip in his new trailer he now loads and unloads himself, making it easy for me when I have to trailer alone.

After I got my Brenderup, I heard many negative comments from horse owners who used regular "boxes on wheels."  There was just no way I could possibly pull two 17 hand horses safely-- they said I would need to get sway bars, electronic brake assist, I would get blown all over the highway, and burn through my brake pads in no time.  AND I would certainly need a bigger vehicle.  How far from the truth!!!  I feel stable in high winds and while passing big trucks... the trailer tracks your vehicle so well and makes turning radiuses small and very secure-feeling... and those inertia brakes actually assist my truck in stopping!  How many trailer owners can make this claim?  I laugh today when I see people breaking their backs cranking away on their tongue lifters and lugging around those heavy sway bars for their unfriendly trailers.  Every time I hook up I marvel at how smooth and quick it is, and that parking break, WOW!  I don't need to ask someone to help me get the ramp up, it glides into place with minimal effort.  I even use my coupler lock as an anti-theft device:  just pop in a regular tow ball (minus the bolt below it) into your coupler, insert and engage your coupler lock, and it's safe.

I wouldn't trade in my Brenderup for the world... until we get another!
